It has been a while since I wrote in this diary. Life becomes rather hectic on the farm as Spring emerges with kids being born and shearing to be done. But I have now experienced my first kidding season with my goats and have marveled at the miracle of birth yet again. It is an amazing opportunity to be trusted enough by a doe for her to allow me to assist her as she gives birth to her beautiful babies. Hailey, usually shy and aloof, seemed to welcome my presence in the birthing stall as she strained to give birth for the first time. Together, we delivered two adorable baby boys and she fell into the role of mother instantly. As I was helping her to dry them off, she leaned towards me and gave me a kiss on my chin. I actually had to look twice to make sure that it was Hailey! It seemed that we had developed a sort of bond or trust by going through this together. What an awesome experience!
As I grow older and hopefully wiser, I see more and more of God's hand in everything around me. All of God's creatures have been given life and each has a different role to play while here on this Earth. I find great joy and delight in sharing that life with my family but also with the many wonderful "critters" that live with us on our farm. Without them, life just wouldn't be the same...
